OUR STORY
About the Angels of Faith
In 1992, the “Shelter Ministry" began through the Missionary Department of Second Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. The primary goal was to provide Spiritual inspiration, Toys for Children, Gift Baskets for mothers, and a delicious Christmas feast for the residents of the Agape Shelter, which was founded by the Rose of Sharon Baptist Church.
The “Shelter Ministry” was reorganized in 2002 as a non-denominational, non-profit organization. It was renamed the Angels of Faith, founded by Cynthia Luellen. The initial goal was to provide special supportive ministry to the Agape Shelter. After the first year, the vision broadened to include other needy populations, and soon came to focus on LA County Family Preservation programs which help families to reunite or avert the Foster Care System. Other community agencies, such as drug rehabilitation facilities, the Juvenile Justice Program, and agencies which serve at risk children are invited as well. All the agencies combined enable us to serve a population for South Los Angeles and Inglewood to the Long Beach and San Pedro areas. The Christmas Ministry has come to serve 250 plus needy mothers and children each year.
Additionally, the Angels of Faith provide onsite ministry at the shelter called, His Sheltering Arms during Mother’s Day. Whether Christmas or Mother’s Day, our Three-Fold Ministry always includes:
-
A spiritual program with an opportunity for a life-changing experience.
-
A delicious hot meal
-
A gift card for each mother and toys for the children
“If you can believe, all things are possible!”

Vision for the Future....
"House of Love and Restoration"

Plans are in the making to establish a rehabilitative shelter which will combine the best rehabilitative/mental health principles with the best spiritual/restoration principles to those who have fallen on hard times, but demonstrate a high level of motivation to maximize an opportunity to improve their lives economically, emotionally and spiritually. Our goal is to establish the first House of Love and Restoration as a prototype, and then to assist others to establish other rehabilitative houses around the Greater Los Angeles Area. We are currently seeking churches, organizations and individuals to partner with us to establish the first house. Please contact us if you or your organization is interested in joining this wonderful endeavor.
